Day 1: Calais to Pont a Mousson (260 miles)

We will assemble at our designated meeting point in Folkestone Kent. After some short introductions and a quick briefing, we’ll make our way to the Eurotunnel for our crossing to Calais. Once in Calais we will use the motorway for the first 80 miles of our journey to make some headway and onto some more interesting roads. After a quick coffee stop, we head for the twisty roads of the Ardennes region, passing close to the Belgium border through the French countryside and onto our hotel close to the river in Pont a Mousson.

Day 2: Pont a Mousson to Switzerland (320 miles)

After breakfast, we’ll head for the winding roads of the Vosges Mountains. Following the ‘Route des Crete’, this winding scenic road will take us past the peaks of the Le Hohneck and Le Grand Ballon. Once out of the Vosges we’ll cross the border into Switzerland near Basel on the river Rhine, from here we head for the Alps and our first Swiss pass. Furka Pass, used as a location in the James bond film Goldfinger at over 2400 metres there’s stunning Alpine scenery to behold, from here its not far from our hotel in the mountains, our home for the next two nights.

Today we’ll spend the day exploring the Swiss Alps, we head out for an assault on some passes, first off Grimsel pass climbing to a height of 1264 metres and crossing the Bernese Alps, from here it’s onto the Susten pass climbing to a height of 2264 metres with fantastic view of the Stein Glacier, with a good road surface and numerous hairpin bends its one not to be missed.

The rest of the day we’ll spend in a similar fashion, searching out great roads such as the Gotthard pass and the old Tremola, as well as interesting places such as Sanatorio del Gottardo and of course the stunning scenery as we head back to our hotel for a delicious meal and a few beers.

Day 4: Switzerland to Pont a Mousson (305 miles)

Today it’s time to start our journey home, but don’t worry there plenty more fun to be had yet. We’ll start the day by giving you another chance to tackle the Grimsel pass before heading north through Switzerland back over the Rhine and into Germany’s Black forest. The roads in this area are nothing short of fantastic, it’s here we ride part of the fabulous B500 through the heart of the national park and on to Feldberg, next is a ride beside beautiful lakes of Titisee and schluchsee, before heading back over the border into the Vosges mountains of France and on to our hotel.
